Red carpet

Every year at Duke West, the last dance is Hollywood themed (or something else permitting a red carpet - Black&White, Yule Ball, etc.) At the beginning of the dance, all the fourth years walk down a red carpet with their escorts. While traditionally 4th years walk down in male-female pairs, any combination is acceptable, including, but not limited to, walking solo, going with a large group, or, in the notable case of in Term II of 2010, with a giant stuffed Domo. It is important to note that escorts do not have to be fourth years, and since there are usually significantly more boys than girls at West, many third year girls go down the red carpet. Even though the carpet walk only lasts a few seconds, it is considered by many to be a Big Deal, and causes much stress and drama among fourth years in the last week.
