Origins
I am not perfectly clear on how this originated, so feel free to elaborate.
The game
The point of hand sign was to try to get somebody to look at while your hand was making the sign. You could do this in a various number of original methods. You could pretend to pick something up, act like you are handing something to somebody, and generally every other method you could think of to draw attention to your hand. This was a wildly popular fad during all of Term II, UGA, 2010. It even made its way to the front of the term book, if you inspect it carefully.
