World Politics: a Diplomat's Perspective
From the archives of TiPWiki, the unofficial Duke TIP Wiki
In this program, students acted as American “ambassadors” to the United Kingdom to learn how to be good diplomats. Part of being a good diplomat includes an understanding of world issues and full immersion in the host country’s culture. Thus, students studied aspects of international politics along with the politics, culture, and history of Britain as if they were preparing for an actual appointment to the US embassy in London.
The course was invented by Mark Harvey and taught as "International Relations" at Marymount International School in London in 2001 and at London School of Economics in 2005 with the WPDP title.
The 2005 group called themselves CATALYST.
