Raves
From the archives of TiPWiki, the unofficial Duke TIP Wiki
A rave, also known as an inconsistently lit party, is an all-night dance party, characterized by fast-paced electronic music and strobe lights. Raves were first brought to TIP during Duke West Term II '09 primarily by Ajay Shroff. From Ajay, the entire Zulu Force took raving on as a RAG, and eventually campus wide tradition. The use of a strobe light and its banning led to the of West II '09. Since then, raving has become a symbol of community and partying at Duke West. In her 4th year speech, Elizabeth, the Minister of Raves, declared "The rave never dies! Rave on TIPsters!" with the implication that raves are a metaphor for the love, friendship and partying found at TIP.
