Note: this article deals with campuses for TIP Summer Studies programs. For other TIP programs, see their respective pages.

Duke TIP Summer Studies is held at several campuses throughout the Southeastern US. TIP is split into two groups: the Academy for Summer Studies and the Center for Summer Studies. Students in the Academy or the Center may attend the Summer Studies program at Duke Marine Lab. For the purpose of this article, note that 1st years are rising 8th graders, 2nd years are rising 9th graders, 3rd years are rising 10th graders, and 4th years are rising 11th graders.

Heard they are possibly getting rid of the Duke Marine Lab and is on the lookout for another campus.

Academy

The Academy for Summer Studies, in general, is for lower-scoring students than the Center (for detailed score tables, see score criteria).

Austin College, Appalachian State University and Rollins College are the Academy campuses for first and second year tipsters.

Students may attend Summer Studies Programs at as 2nd, 3rd, or 4th years. UGA became a TIP campus in 2009 with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years attending. Texas A&M (closed after 2013 Term 1 and 2 due to Moses hall Demolition) was the last of the TIP campuses to house all 4 years, which it did until 2009, when University of Georgia came into existence as a TIP campus. Rollins College became a 1st and 2nd year campus in 2015. In 2020 LSU program was closed and Rice and Duke West gained an Academy program in addition to the center program they already housed.

Center

Center students must score higher on the SAT or ACT than Academy students. Previously, any given Center student may also have chosen to attend an Academy campus, but not vice versa. This is no longer an option, though, thus separating the friendships made between friends who decide to retake the SAT and pass with a higher score.

Students in the Center may attend Davidson as 1st and 2nd years. Until 2009, Davidson was the only Center location for 1st years. In 2009, Trinity University opened and is home to 1st and 2nd year TIPsters. The New College of Florida is also a recent campus for 1st and 2nd years. New College has been replaced by Wake Forest University for the 2013 summer studies.

Duke East is the oldest and largest of the TIP campuses, and is in fact the flagship campus of the program. Traditionally, courses are humanities-based, but there are usually also one or two math courses as well. East originally housed students of all four years, which enabled certain tipsters to achieve the mythical 4-4-4 status. Today, the campus serves as home to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years.

Duke West, East's intellectual counterpart, also houses 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year. However, its courses are based in science and math.

Wake Forest was also used for one year in 2008 as a Center campus for 1st and 2nd years, but was not used again until 2013.

Georgia Tech was added as a campus for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years in 2014.

For reference, the appalachian state university page is probably the furthest along at this point.
